Hello Everybody!
Sorry we haven’t gotten up on the blog until today! We have been having way too much fun. We just got back from our river trip. We asked the campers what they would like to contribute to the blog and tell everybody back at home and here is what they had to say:
Chloe- Something that amazed me about the desert was the gorgeous view of the sunrise. Our group woke up at 5:30 in the morning and it was cool out because the sun wasn’t over our heads yet. Seeing the sunrise and the horizon was amazing because of the bright oranges and pinks under the streched thin clouds. I have never seen the sky look so beautiful.
Rachel C.- One thing I love about this trip is how close everyone became. I feel like everyone here is my best friend. We are so close to each other that we can laugh about anything until our stomaches hurt and we can’t breathe. I LOVE IT!!
Dan B.- The thing I will remember most about this trip are the friends I have made. Hopefully I will keep in contact with them after the trip is over. The rock-climbing and the white-water rafting were my favorite adventures. When I go home, I will have memories and stories to talk about for a long time. My birthday celebration was great and I couldn’t have asked for more. This trip was a great experience and certainly one I will remember for the rest of my life.
Julia- My favorite part of the trip was riding in the van. That was the time when we could be kids and enjoy each other’s company.
Charlotte- My favorite was rock-climbing. I thought it was the best because I really had to push and trust myself. Also, when you finally reach the top you feel a huge sense of accomplishment.
We are really proud of everyone in this group. It will be hard to say good-bye at the end of the week. Thank you for sharing your children with us.

A big ‘Hello’ to all of our families. We wanted to check in with you all and give you an update on what we have been up to out here where the sun never sets.
Ice climbing was incredible. It was such a cool experience to be able to walk on and be a part of such unique terrain and then be able to grasp it because of the tools we had at our disposal. Our guides have been very interesting people, some native Alaskans who live to do this stuff and have been teaching us everything they know. It has been inspiring to meet them and hear their stories.
We would like to give a big shout out to Dave Hopland has been the man at cooking unbelievable meals on the grill and the family who taught him how to do all of this.
Sea Kayaking was unreal! Being able to see the glaciers calving into the water was an unforgettable experience. They are so majestic and powerful.
We have seen procu[pines, moose (5 or 6) and we hope to be seeing a lot more wildlife on our next backpack which is more known for that. We are about to pass through Talketna which is a very cool little town on the way to Denali.
More soon,
Anna, Levi, and the Ultimate Alaska Crew

The sun is shining and we are at the beach! Here´s a new blog update for ya!
Hi everyone! Our last week in Costa Rica is going by too quickly!
We´re in Flamingo and at the beach now! This past week has been great. Monteverde was so beautiful and peaceful that it was hard for us to leave. We loved the Sky Trek and the Sugar Cane farm. After Monteverde, we traveled to Rincon de la Vieja volcano and saw lots and lots of Monkeys there. We also celebrated Jordan´s 18th birthday with a traditional Costa Rican cake!
Now at the beach, we are having fun in the sun! Tomorrow we´re going mountain biking and then surfing on Thursday and sailing and snorkeling on Friday! Then its back to the city for a final dinner, a celebration of Yegor´s 17th birthday, and a sad preparation for our goodbyes on Saturday.
Thanks for reading our blog! The last email we´ll write will be one filled with Do´s and Don´ts for the next Costa Rica Spanish Intensive group next year!

Rock and Rapid Colorado Teen Adventure

Hello Families!
We are having a great time and miss you all. The two day raft trip was surely the highlight of the trip thus far even though it rained. Jessa was the only one who holds the claim to fame of falling out of the raft smack into the Arkansas river. We have some rock-climbing wizards in this group for sure. All of us leaders have been so impressed with their skills. BackPacking in the Diamond Lakes in the Indian Peaks Wilderness was awesome. We split up guys and girls based on the park regulations and I think both groups got a lot out of that one. The girls had some nice girl time and enjoyed their break from the boys. We missed calculated our turn off and had to hike an extra two miles but everyone kept up and we made it to catch up with the boys. We had an awesome day of ultimate frisbee on one of our days off and everyone jumped in the cold, cold, cold creek in Boulder.
More soon,

Bold West Teen Adventure 1B: Blog Update

Hello Families!
We decided to provide you guys with a day to day preview of what our group has been up to these last few days.
Day 7: Awesome! We visited to Circus Circus in Las Vegas. After the natural and spectacular experience of Zion and thrills of two days of rock climbing it was certainly a change of pace but much appreciated.
Day 8: Our thoughts and reflections on Vegas is that it is the coolest place ever; we can’t wait to return. Who would have thought we all would have liked it so much?
Day 10 Rafting was incredibley fun. We stayed at an awesome campsite, all of the campers participated in creating amazing food and we took a much needed plunge in the cold river nearby.
Day 11: Today was our 2nd day of rafting and chalked-full of exilarating class 4 rapids.
Day 12: We spent the day exploring Sequoia National park. We encountered two bears during our challenging hike to a beautiful high Sierra lake created by the snow melt.
Day 13: We saw the General Sherman tree. It is the single biggest tree in the world. A few cars could pass through it. We are off to Yosemite.
Bold West 1b rocks, we have the greatest cooks and intend to have some serious fun on the second half of the AAVE adventure.

Andrea. here!
We are going strong with the Wild Coast Discovery 1B Crew
(Wi-Co-Disco)! We are currently basking in a day of sunshine on beautiful Orcas Island in the San Juans. We biked these lush and rolling hills this morning and just had some town time in this quaint little village of Eastsound. This trip is AWESOME and the kids are having a blast…and so are the leaders! Myself, Ray and Alexis are totally impressed by these guys and gals and their good attitudes and adventurous spirits. We couldn’t be any more excited to be
hanging out with so many awesome people! Well, that’s it for now…dinner calls and we have to get ready for an fabulous service project building bridges at Moran State Park tomorrow. We hope everyone is having as much fun as we are!

“The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.”

Wow! Time fies when you are having fun! We just arrived into Airlie Beach and are about to start our dive course.
After we said goodbye to Byron Bay, we headed up to the Crocodile Dundee Zoo. Sounds corny, but it was actually cool. We got to pet Koalas!
Next we headed up to Myella Farm. I think it was my favorite part of the trip. Motorcycles, horseback riding, kangaroos, and more great food! I was sad to have to leave, but it’s great to be back by the beach.
We stopped by some caves and the guide let us do some extreme spelunking! It was really challenging and the kids loved it!
Everyone is alive and well. I will remind the kids to give you a call soon.
More to come soon. Dan

Live from Costa Rica!
Austin Permutter July 9
Today marks the first full day of adventure. Although we enjoyed our family home stays it feels great to get out of the house\school mindset.
Our morning hike led us to a pool of blue water supplied by a waterfall. To swim in the pristine but cold mountain water was one of experiences here I will not forget. This afternoon we’re off to river tubing, which will be a great way to cool off after the mid-morning biking challenge we just finished. In any case, it’s off to lunch. Until next time…

A few days ago our group traveled to Flamingo Beach to experience one of the most beautiful areas of Costa Rica. We were able to lounge on the white sand beaches or swim and play in the warm blue ocean. Later we went on a 52 ft. sailboat with an awesome crew to sail to an area with prime snorkeling.
There were soo many interesting fish to look at and places to explore. On our way back to shore our boat passed through a rain storm. It only lasted for 5-10 min but it was definitely an adventure.

WOW!! We are already half way into our journey and it has been an awesome adventure…not only because of the activities, but because of the students. We have an amazing group who are all positive, willing to learn, try new things, support each other, and immerse themselves into the culture of this
peaceful and nature-oriented country. You should be proud of your teens, they are the best! Thank you for sharing them with us! Today we head to the Arenal Volcano to enjoy natural hot springs and celebrate Stephanie’s, one of the students, birthday. Flamingo beach was a blast body surfing, relaxing in the sun, and throwing around the frisbee. One of our favorite activity is games. We play a lot in Spanish. YES, WE USE SPANISH ALL THE TIME AND IT IS IMPROVING EVERY DAY!
PURA VIDA,

Everyone is alive and well. I will remind the kids to give you a call soon.
