Hola from Ecuador & Galapagos #2A

Hola from Ecuador!

After ascending to 15,000 feet on day one, we began our first adventure in Ecuador by mountain biking down glacier covered Cotopaxi (one of the highest active volcanoes in the world). Once again luck smiled upon us; we had beautiful blue-bird skies, mellow winds, and good temps. Two nights later we found ourselves sleeping below Chimborazo (the highest peak in Ecuador, rising above 20,000 feet) reflecting on our long day of community gardening and sprucing up the town hall with a fresh layer of paint for one of our service projects which benefited the small indigenous community of Santa Anita.

We have just completed our first full day in the Galapagos accompanied with sun, water, sharks, sea lions, eagle rays, and bottle nosed dolphins. The group has been having a blast and everyone is making friends with ease. To be honest, I can’t remember the last time I’ve had a group so supportive of one another. Everyday has been filled with challenges and everyone has risen up to them with a sense of accomplishment rarely found elsewhere. I can’t believe we only have 12 days left to enjoy!

Adios y gracias,

Lyn and Heather
