Just in from Mexico!!
Hola! Today is dia numero 5 here at Surf Camp in Mexico and the fun in the sun is only getting better! We are writing to you from Barra de Navidad where we took a banana boat ride and cruised the streets to get a taste of small town Mexican culture. We have taken surfing to the next level at the beaches of Boca de Iguanas where the waves are bigger and the kids are preparing some gourmet meals! We are very proud of our group for doing a great job of setting up a bombproof camp complete with sleeping quarters and kitchen. Even though many of them had never set up a tent before everything has remained dry even with the nighttime rainstorms. The days have been sunny and hot, and packed with activity. Aside from surfing we have been swimming, bodysurfing, playing washmachine in the waves, playing camp games and there was even an epic kickball battle on the beach between The Mexican Jumping Crabs and Sir Kicksalot. We had a very educational trip to a bioreserve, have had some great nightly meetings and we have also been mastering the art of crab dodging as they scramble about everywhere at night!
Now onto the most important part…stories about your kids! Lydia who is known as the motivational speaker of the group has proven to be an awesome leader and has enjoyed getting aggressive in the stronger waves. Hannah is very mature and our resident rapstar and is very easy to relate to. This morning Elizabeth used her catlike reflexes and high pitched vocals to avoid a falling coconut that fell on her tent and in the process helped us wake everyone up just in time for breakfast. Joe bought a super comfy bright orange pillow, and most importantly has been rocking it on the surfboards and mastering the art of body surfing. Last night Alex stayed up for hours to talk to Allison and I about life and our futures and is always the first one ready with an awesome attitude for any activity. Taylor has been making us all laugh with her famous shelf stacking dance move and the enormous pink sombrero she bought in Puerto Vallarta! Carlyle is always full of energy, is super animated and entertained us all with her crazy new Dr. Suess hair do. Mika is so polite and sweet and has a knack for discovering the secrets of card tricks before anyone else does. Francesca is doing great with her English and has found her new love for sleeping in hammocks which is much needed especially because she is so tough on the water even with the biggest of waves. You can see Lucy’s face light up when she is on the water and she is a great friend to everyone in the group and is always very helpful in organizing and contributing to group tasks especially on the cook crew! Sophia has been attacking the waves in the early morning surf group everyday and served as the captain for the Mexican Jumping Crabs kickball team. Alli has been very persistent in the water saying that she will not go in until she has caught a certain amount of waves and it has been paying off since we always see here standing up on her board. YOUR KIDS ARE AWESOME!
Like we said we are having such a blast with each and everyone of your children and are so happy to have the privilege to spend time with them this summer! Everyone is happy and healthy and we are looking forward to the adventuras that lie ahead. We hope this post finds you well and we will post again soon! Hasta pronto!
Un abrazo,
Mike and Allison from the Beach
