Surf Camp #1 - Hola from Mexico!

Hola again from las playas del Mexico!

Since our last post we have been quite the active group, covering a lot of ground and tackling lots of new activities! From Boca de Iguanas we headed down the coast to the small mountain town of Tapalpa where we hiked into the wilderness and made the mountains our background for our nighttime campout. It was quite the change being in the mountains having cold forest temperatures instead of hot sand and it was a nice variation in scenery.

In the mountains we also had a canopy adventure where we traveled through the trees by flying on ziplines and crossing rope bridges high above the forest floor. The group even got a taste of rural Mexican culture when we got a lesson from a local farmer on how to milk cows. After exploring the quaint town of Tapalpa we modified our itinerary and rather than heading south to Maruata, we spent a beautiful night complete with a full moon in San Juan de Lima.

The next day we surfed at a nearby beach before heading back to Boca de Iguanas where we have been taking advantage of the perfect sets of las olas!

The kids have been making us and each other laugh by singing and dancing to MC Hammer and Journey during the van rides and are becoming very proficient campers both setting up and tearing down their tents faster and cleaner everytime!

We cannot believe there are only four days left and are already making plans to meet up with one another in the near future! Tomorrow is our personal favorite part of the trip with a visit to a tropical waterfall and swimming hole!

Un abrazo fuerte,
Alli and Mike and Surf Camp #1, 2009
