Bold Europe #1 Update!

Posted by Chris in : Bold Europe , trackback

Our summer journey continued into the French Pyrenees where we spent the day rock climbing and Mountain Biking. The day started out a bit cold and wet but by the afternoon the sun had come out and it was beautiful. We took a 20 minute hike to get to the rocks where we climbed 3 different routes which all tested our skills at climbing and belaying while helping and cheering our friends on.

While we biked we stopped along the way to listen to our guide’s knowledge about the different plants and fruit in the area. We washed our hands using flowers and ate countless delicious fresh figs! It was a BLAST!

We next went on to Cap d’Ail where we stayed in a beautiful hostel with an incredible view of the Mediterranean sea. Wait till you see the pictures! We spent as much time in the water as possible including a night swim. We loved walking from our hostel in France right into Monaco along the coast, seeing the palace and exploring a bit of Monte Carlo. We were all so relaxed and a little bit sad to leave such an amazing place.

Two days ago we did Via Ferrata, which is climbing up mountains using metal holds and zip lining. Matt, Jean and Nick amazingly conquered their fears! The next day we went canyoning. We waded through streams, climbed rocks, rappelled down water falls and the views from one particular mossy cave was one of the most beautiful things we had ever seen. Needless to say Canyoning was a huge challenge which everyone seemed to thrive on.

We are having a great time here but miss all at home. You should be so proud of your kids!!! A 28 day camping adventure is a massive experience which requires a lot of flexibility, stamina, friendship, courage and confidence. We have one week of Italy to go! We truly love every single person in the group.

See you soon, Love, BE1
