Colorado Discovery #3 - Howdy from Buena Vista!
Posted by AAVE Leader in : Colorado Discovery, General AAVE Trip BLOG , trackback
Today was our first day of successful rock climbing! We were climbing
right off/above the Arkansas river in the blazing sunshine!
The day before we were finished up our two day horse back riding trip.
The food and horses were great but we got a little wet on the way out-
but overall a beautiful overnight horseback riding trip. To rest,
recover and relax, we drove to some natural hot springs that were
awesome- just the recovery we needed!
Before the horses we put our team to work on our service project in
Aspen; weeding in an organic garden, painting bike racks, and helping
build a trout dam for the native cutthroat trout in the area. We
followed up the service work by eating pizza and played under rainbows
in a rain and hail storm! The hail storm was crazy, and only lasted
for ten minutes- it was a sight to see!
Crested Butte was the site of our mountain biking on some gnarly
trails, it was a beautiful scenery while biking! We had a few spills
and scrapes, but they provided each of us with great stories. To cool
off we then headed to a rope swing in the lake nearby. We are doing
some laundry now, and will try to call home tomorrow! Here are some
of thoughts from a few of the kids …
Rock climbing is awesome- Tristan
