AAVE BAP: Best Biking Trip EVER!

From the attentive people that called once we showed an interest in the program at the beginning of the summer, to the moment I waved goodbye to everyone in the airport on the last day of my trip, I have been so impressed with AAVE! I met 15 individuals (12 campers and 3 leaders) that I can confidently call life long friends. The European cities we visited were beautiful. They made me appreciate nature and different cultures on a higher level. Our overall schedule from morning to night and week-to-week was extremely organized. I always felt safe in the hands of AAVE and my three incredible leaders. I learned more about myself than I ever thought I would. I went into the trip cautiously but left it confidently. The sense of achievement I felt is hard to explain. Biking over 40 miles a day, swimming in the freezing cold ocean, learning words from different languages, standing before the Mona Lisa, and opening up to a group of strangers are some of the accomplishments I never thought I would overcome in just two weeks. We all escaped our lives at home when we came to camp. We brought along our personalities and experiences to share with one another, but left our hardships at the door. My group created a new world as we laughed and sang, and even when we sat in silence. The optimism and energy we created gave us all a sense of hope for the future. I will never forget the memories I have from this trip. Thank you so much for giving teenagers this opportunity. -Susie Robinson
