SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Posted by Chris in : Wondering About Scholarships? , add a comment

Thank you for your interest in AAVE -All About Visiting Earth. Our scholarship program allows teenagers who would financially not be able to join our programs to attend. Scholarship dollars are limited and come 100% from company funds so we try to stretch them to help as many students as possible.

How scholarships work:
• Financial Aid is offered based on documented need. (We discourage families earning more than $50,000 per year to apply for financial aid.)
• If a discount of $100 to $500 will help, give our office a call and we will talk.
• DISCOUNTS: Often on May 15 we need a student or two to balance the age or gender on particular trips. If you are willing to have AAVE choose your trip we offer a 33% discount. Fill out the application with a $400 deposit writing “AAVE choose for me” under trip choice. Attach a letter saying when you are available and your top trip choices. We will call you to discuss trip placement. Yes, this includes international trips. Your deposit is 100% refundable if you decline the trip offered.

Basic Requirements:
Same as all other applicants: healthy and enthusiastic teenagers entering 7th-12th grades who seek the challenge and success of AAVE.

Paper work required for consideration:
1. One page statement written by teenager stating “Why I want to join AAVE”.
2. One page summary written by parent stating “Why we need financial assistance”. *Please include a statement of what percentage of financial assistance you will need (10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50% or more).
3. Copy of parents’ (each parent if divorced) latest tax return.
4. Documentation of money if any raised by the student to contribute to the cost of AAVE.
5. Completed application (please include phone numbers of references), on page 36 of brochure with a deposit of $100. Your deposit is 100% refundable if you decline the trip offered.

What do we offer?
1. Usually, a maximum of 50% reduction in tuition.
2. Choice of any trip, (because of airfare costs we usually do not offer scholarships outside of the U.S.A.). Your trip assignment will be based on trip availability. We recommend you list at least three choices, your flexibility is very important. You will be assigned to a trip approximately 40 days before departure. We encourage you to choose from both early and later dates when making trip selections.
3. Your participation will be identical to all other teenagers.

Please call if you have any questions. We will contact you immediately after receiving all paper work. Final trip placement decisions are made in May.
