AAVE's Language and Adventure Camp in France

Language Summer Camps in France

DAYS 1-10:
You will be met upon arrival at the Nice airport by your experienced AAVE expedition leaders. After a complete gear check to assure that you are prepared for the diverse, demanding and remote regions we explore, we load up our custom vehicles and head off! During orientation we get to know each other and learn what to expect in the days ahead. Our daily routine, jobs and safety rules are explained, and the process of growing together as a group begins.

We drive to Antibes on the Cote d'Azur and meet our homestay host families with whom we will stay the first week. After getting to know each other while kayaking on the beautiful Mediterranean sea we start our language course. We spend the mornings of our first week together improving our French skills in classes together with teenagers from all over the world.

Three hour morning classes are held daily at the language center by qualified teachers who have a degree in teaching French to foreigners. Students are grouped according to language skill level, and classes include other foreigners learning the French language. Afternoons and evenings are dedicated to a variety of adventures and sports as well as sailing or city excursions in the surrounding area. We sleep in tents to enhance the outdoor experience and cook breakfast and evening meals ourselves. Our language study center is uniquely charming and has all the necessary provisions to focus on learning French.

DAYS 11-18:
On our drive to the beautiful Gorge du Verdon we make a stop at a beautiful waterfall for some great swimming. At the Gorge du Verdon we hike the Gorge one day and go on an amazing water trek through the canyon the next day. Then it's off to the National Parc of Mercantour! We enjoy an exciting rock climbing day: climbing up ladders, crossing bridges and going down zip lines.

We are completely self-sufficient on our exciting twenty-five mile, four day backpack in the French Alps with a professional French guide. Our trek allows us to experience the park's glacial lakes, mountaintop views, and rare wildlife. Most of the days will be day hikes, returning to one of our wild camps where we sleep in tipis or tents. We end our Alpine adventure with a day of tubing and a service project. We will be accompanied by certified French mountain guides who will encourage us to use our newly improved French skills to communicate.
